Eaton Introduces Dura-Kote™ Plating Technology for Enhanced Corrosion Resistance

Eaton is pleased to announce the introduction of Dura-Kote™ plating technology that delivers a significantly higher level of corrosion resistance for Eaton’s carbon steel fluid conveyance products.  Many of Eaton’s carbon steel fluid conveyance products are now rated up to 1,000 hours of corrosion resistance, far exceeding Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J514 standards.  The plating technology has been tested in accordance with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) B117 salt spray requirements.


Dura-Kote plating technology provides up to three times more protection compared to earlier generations of plating without changing the look, feel or performance of Eaton’s carbon steel fluid conveyance products.  For example, torque values and assembly procedures will be the same for parts exhibiting the Dura-KoteTM plating when compared to traditional Eaton-supplied carbon steel products.   There are also no compatibility issues when using traditional Eaton carbon steel parts with current plating and parts using Dura-KoteTM plating.


Eaton is making a running change to the Dura-KoteTM plating and most Eaton carbon steel fluid conveyance products distributed in North America exhibit the new plating.  As a result, Eaton’s North American distribution facilities may ship parts with the current plating and the improved plating in the same shipment. Parts may also have mixed components; current and improved plating.  However, as noted above, this will have no effect on fit, form, or function, and no differences in appearance on the component parts as well.


All part numbers will remain the same as a result of the Dura-KoteTM introduction.  Ordering and lead times are not changing.  Simply use the same ordering process you trust and have the confidence you are getting the best corrosion resistance available.
